Tasted recently, here is a very nice bottle!
This great Tuscan wine demonstrates once again the ageing potential for this terroir surrounding the village of Montalcino.
Made from a clone of sangiovese named Brunello, this 1985 surprised by its color still intense, without marked evolution, still more on garnet nuances than brownish hues.
On the nose, the aromatic power is remarkable and shows real elegance.
The aromas are rich and complex and there are nuances of spices, figs, tobacco on a background of candied black cherries.
Tasting the wine brings you to notice the tannic structure that still brings a nicely knitted body, the acidity confers a beautiful freshness.
Harmoniously integrated, the mid palate flavours offers oodles of both fruit and spice.
The finish is fresh, long and very clean.
No bitterness or vegetal note that could point to old age.
In conclusion, a lovely bottle, now at its peak!
